EASY, proven and FREE strategies to gain online business visibility without ever leaving your home

You don't need to go to major conferences to be visible online and grow your brand! Here are four simple and proven ways to do it, free, without leaving home.

In this week's episode:

  • The number one rule to gaining online visibility is to be where your audience is online. If you're unsure, google "social media demographics" and look at the data for the platforms you enjoy using most.
  • Facebook has approximately 2.8 billion people, so your audience is likely on there.
  • LinkedIn is all business all the time, so if you have a business you should have a daily presence there.
  • Use one or two hashtags for each social media post (up to 30 for Instagram), including a branded hashtag and one topical one.
  • You cannot own a hashtag, but you can dominate it.
  • The easiest and fastest way to get noticed by experts or others in your industry is to be a helpful audience member in the chat of livestream broadcasts. I detail many ways to do this in the episode including greeting the host(s),...

Being transparent, authentic and sharing too much on social media

We're often told that it's important to be "transparent" and "authentic" online, but how much is too much to share on social media? We answer this and more on this episode of the Business Fabulous podcast.

In this week's episode:

  • Please stop paying attention to what others are doing on social media--it's crazy-making.
  • Take a "social media cleanse" for a reality check to what's truly important.
  • Look at how many minutes/hours you're spending on social media! (Your smartphone will track this.
  • Please don't eat on live video unless eating the food is a food review, etc.--super rude to your viewers.
  • I define transparency and authenticity (they do NOT mean the same thing) online and what this means for your branding.
  • Why Bonnie's on so many social media platforms.
  • How many social media platforms YOU should be on.
  • Why I get over 27,000 Pinterest views every month.

Video Marketing Must Haves

By 2020, Video will be 80% of the content we consume on Facebook. If you're not currently incorporating video into your marketing strategies, you need to start! Here are my top three tips for quality video marketing:

Good Lighting

You don’t need an expensive lighting kit, but you do need good lighting to produce quality video. This can be natural light from a large picture window in front of you and you record your videos early in the morning when this light is at its peak. whether you use natural light or canned lighting, ideally, you want at least “three-point lighting." Three-point lighting means that one light is from overhead; a second light is on you from an upper 45-degree angle to the right, and the third source is coming from an upper 45-degree angle to the left. You need at least three points of light while you record your video, whether you're broadcasting live or producing a piece to be shown at a later time.

Good Sound

HAS LIVESTREAMING CHANGED THE SOCIAL MEDIA WORLD?

HAS LIVESTREAMING CHANGED THE SOCIAL MEDIA WORLD?

(As seen first in June issue of iBlog Magazine)

The answer is a resounding YES! Livestreaming has absolutely changed the social media landscape for brands as well as small business and individual broadcasters.

Livestreaming (live broadcasting) has been around for years, (remember Ustream?) but it has gotten miles of traction, loads of press and many tens of thousands of participants within the past year; particularly since March 26, 2015 when Periscope came on the scene.

Meerkat, the first Livestreaming app to appear in 2015, was actually launched three weeks prior to Periscope, but Periscope was very quickly acquired by Twitter…then Facebook Live was launched, and for now, the rest is history.

Regardless of the livestreaming platform you use and how often you use it, live broadcasting appears to be here to stay; in fact, my business was built on Periscope and at one time 100% of my clients came from seeing my Periscope...
